As part of the smartphone updates, Acer has recently updated the flagship model, in order to benefit from the new software. The Liquid e is intended to replace the A1 by upgrading to Android 2.1; it also gets the new software features (this includes the new web browser and some dynamic wallpapers, similar to those on the Nexus One). The design of the new device is slightly modified, including a red frame, instead of the white one.

Despite the software upgrade, the handset is similar in hardware, maintaining its top phone name. A somewhat downclocked 768MHz Snapdragon processor is used, as well as a 5-megapixel autofocusing camera, a 3.5-inch 800×480 screen and 256MB of RAM. The transition over to the Liquid e is made through the 7.2Mbps 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The updated version of Acer’s phone has a yet unknown release date, but the various upgrades shouldn’t result in a big delay.
