On February 15, 2010, at MWC, Toshiba has launched two new phones. This time, the company has been focusing on software, not on hardware. The TG02, a direct sequel to the TG01, is one of the company’s first handsets to use capacitive touch. The device runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 and may get the 6.5.3 version in order to benefit from the new touch features. The interface has been customized as to offer a 3D menu for navigating through applications.
The new phone, which is very similar to the previous one, is using a 1GHz processor and a 4.1-inch OLED display (the old model uses an LCD). The 0.39-inch thick mobile phone benefits from a microSDHC slot, through which the storage memory can be extended up to 32GB.
Another device, the K01, has a more original design, having a slide-out keyboard; therefore, the K01 is thicker than the TG02 (0.51 inches). Despite this, it carries the same processor, display and storage.
Neither the ship dates, nor the prices for Toshiba’s new handsets are known and it seems that they will only be made public closer to the release.
