Acer is planning to release the first netbook to use NVIDIA’s Ion 2, despite the current phone focus. Aspire One 532g is intended to upgrade the 532h with a GeForce G 310M, which provides full 1080p video and hardware-accelerated 3D, as well as less power consumption. Intel’s building graphics are overcome into the processor by using Optimus: the 532g is able to switch to Intel’s slower, but efficient graphics in order to save power and to the Ion 2 chipset, if performance is more important than power consumption.
According to Acer, the new Aspire One offers 10 hours of battery life, even if this depends mainly on using Intel graphics first.
The 532g will have, in standard trim, a 10-inch screen, a 1.66GHz Atom and some other hardware details of the recent sister model. The price has not yet been officially announced, but the faster model seems to cost above the $300 532h, in March, when the shipping starts.
