Nexus One 3G still has problems with the dropping 3G signal

According to Nexus One owners, despite the last over-the-air update, users are still having problems keeping and holding the 3G signal. There have been lots of supposed improvements, but most of the Android devices are dropping to EDGE (2G), even in areas where the 3G signal is known to work well. There have been videos showing the phone dropping 3G by covering the bottom section of the antenna.

The exact cause for this problem is still unknown, as well as a solution for this. Probably, the problem comes from the cellular chipset, as T-Mobile-capable 3G tells the chipset how to work, not the firmware, as expected.

Verizon and AT&T will soon be offering versions of Nexus One, which could not be affected by this problem, because there have been made some changes in what the chipset and frequency are concerned, affecting the performance, as well.
