Samsung claims that their integrated AMOLED touchscreen is possible to be available on another phone and could count as a major step forward in what displays are concerned. Its name is “Super AMOLED” – a 3.3-inch, 800×480 screen – and will most likely be available through a new device which will be revealed at Mobile World Congress taking place somewhere next week. Despite this, an eventual ship date is still unknown.
This new type of display is set to offer more than a simple touchscreen. The manufacturer claims that the new screen is up to five times “clearer” than the usual OLED displays. It also seems that the new display improves AMOLED’s visibility in direct sunlight (20% more), offering a solution to the screen’s outdoor weakness.
It is still unknown if Samsung will offer its new display to other phone manufacturers, even if, normally, the company has always made its new technology available to others as well.
