Storage drive maker LaCie has recently announced its Quadra Enterprise Class drives that are meant for the enterprise market. The new range of products includes the d2, 2big and 4big drives, all of them with different form factors. Each device in the line-up sports SATA hard drives and also secures data through 128-bit AES hardware encryption. Hardware RAID support and hot-swap capabilities are also provided. The new drives were designed by Neil Poulton, like other drives in LaCie’s range.
Each hard disk is a 7,200rpm drive with 32MB of cache and a mean time between failures rated at 1.2 million hours. The new LaCie Enterprise Class drives have all FireWire 400/800, as well as USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces. The 4big Quadra Enterprise Class drive has 700MBps transfer speeds while setup in a RAID 50 array. The 4big and the 2big Quadra Enterprise Class drives can also be set to RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5.
The new Enterprise Class range offers various capacities, including the 1TB LaCie d2 Quadra Enterprise Class priced at $300, the 2big Quadra Enterprise Class with 2TB and a $650 price, as well as the 4TB Quadra Enterprise Class that will be available for a price of $1,350.
