Google has recently introduced the Desktop Dock, an accessory working as a dock, able to charge the smartphone and connect the audio output to a separate stereo by means of an RCA cable. When docked, the Nexus One can display a clock application that provides weather information as well as alarm functionality. The interface is also used to view slideshows, dim the screen, or play music that is stored on the phone.

Earlier reports that were based on FCC documents have mentioned that the dock would pair with the Nexus One via Bluetooth. When docked for the first time, the phone is automatically paired with the base. The wireless connection is used to transmit audio from the handset to the dock, while a Bluetooth headset can be used to answer calls when the users leave the phone on the base.

The Desktop Dock is already available from Google’s online store at a price of $45.
