The long-awaited Windows Mobile 7 operating system will probably be presented at Mobile World Congress next month, as CNET sources reveal. Microsoft is in process of finalizing the code for an OS update and the development of the software is expected to be completed by the end of this summer. The new mobile operating system would ship on handsets by the end of this year.

As earlier reports reveal, the launch of the Windows Mobile 7 would be delayed until next year. Many companies wait for a major revision of Microsoft’s operating system and therefore have focused on Android and other platforms. Motorola, for example, has announced that its line-up for 2010 would not include any device based on the mobile platform of Microsoft.

The software giant is still expected to disclose full details relative to Windows Mobile 7 as well as upcoming devices. Aside from Mobile World Congress, additional information is also expected at the Mix 10 trade show that will be held in March.

This must be a revolutionary operating system, if it is to have any hope of attracting people away from already-popular mobile operating systems like Android and iPhone.

It has been so many years in the making. More years than competing OSes took to make (iPhone and webOS took 18 months). So it had better be a good one.

On 15 February I’ll sit back with my popcorn and watch the Microsoft presentation, and see if I’m amazed by what’s shown.

Every thing seems intresting but if video conferencing is not included i just wont see it as too exciting and it must have a mp3 player with equalizers with 3D speaker sound like my xpress music cell.
