Wireless provider AT&T has announced the upgrade of its South Florida network for the upcoming events Pro Bowl and Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, in order to provide high quality services. The upgrade includes expanding coverage and capacity in and near the Dolphin Stadium and adjacent areas where lots of visitors will come. AT&T’s measures are believed to prevent poor service and lack of signal visitors experienced at the recent January CES show.

AT&T will bring three mobile cell sites on wheels in the stadium’s parking area, will have a new DAS (distributed antenna system) inside the stadium and will add a fourth capacity layer to the cell side inside the arena. This last action will double the voice and data capacity of the company’s 2G GSM network and will bring a 280 percent increase of the voice and data capacity for the 3G GSM network.

Other cell sites near the stadium will be also boosted, such as hotels and resorts in South Beach and Fort Lauderdale as well as facilities for the places where teams will be staying. All cell sites around the stadium will get an increase of connectivity in voice and data capacity between the routing switch and the sites. AT&T will also have network personnel on site in order to monitor traffic and manage any abnormal event that would appear.

My landline has not been working since the 26th. According to AT&T, one of their “central” offices is down. I have been without a landline for four days now. So much for high quality services. What a PR Ripp Off! And you guys are a tool for not writing about it too! I wonder how many customers are being ripped off.
