LG X300 direct rival of the MacBook Air?

A new PC commercial is the place where LG is declaring war to Apple’s MacBook Air. An ad for the new X300, distributed in its home country, Korea, is showing a MacBook Air taken out of a manila envelope and afterwards replaced with the LG system, after qualifying the Apple device as “unthinkable”. The X300 is thinner, under 0.7 inches and also lighter at2.1 pounds.

Besides the win in dimensions, other reasons for challenging Apple are not evident. While the X300 runs on a 2GHz Atom and Intel graphics on an 11.6-inch screen, the base MacBook Air is using a 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo and eForce 9400M graphics on a 13-inch screen. Apple’s device is also capable of other features that are not possible for LG’s X300, such as modern 3D graphics and high definition video. On the other side, the X300 has the advantage of including an SSD and the option of 3G as well.

The X300 is expected to reach the United States, but the use of a similar commercial would be prohibited by the American law.
