The Taiwanese ASUS enters, although a bit late, the highly-competitive market of e-book readers with its DR-570 device. The 6-inch e-book reader was absent at the recent CES show, but is expected to be a technologically advanced device, with a bright OLED colour display and an impressive 122-hour battery life. The DR-570 is believed to be more powerful than most e-readers as it supports Flash video over the built-in 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity.
The screen of the device will be 5.7-inch sized and will have a 768×1,024 resolution, with an OLED-typical refresh rate of 0.03 seconds. The device will have 512MB of RAM and a built-in storage of 4GB. There also is an SDHC memory card slot integrated. The DR-570 is powered by a 1,530mAh battery. The entire device will not weigh more than half a pound.
The DR-570 e-book reader will be released before the end of this year and the price is not available at this time.
