T-Mobile to cut prices in order to beat Verizon?

A possible reduction of the prices for a part of its cellular phones is supposed to happen for the wireless provider T-Mobile, as a move after Verizon’s recent plan price lowering. The new prices are not yet specified but the reduction is expected to be between $30 and $50.

Thus, for example, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 would be reduced when purchased without a plan but also when purchased with a 2-year agreement. The Samsung t349, Behold II or Gravity and Highlight, as well as the Touch Pro2 from HTC and Dash 3G or the T-Mobile G1 are all part of the same strategy. There are also plans of dropping the contract-free prices for other handsets, such as Motorola Cliq, BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Nokia 3711. The timing for these drops is still unknown but details are expected soon.
