Hewlett Packard’s Windows 7 tablet is only one of a larger line of similar devices the company has planned to release, according to some sources. A senior editor of a major magazine publisher claims that one of these devices would run Android and would be about twice as larger as an iPhone but at the same time significantly smaller than the model already presented at the Microsoft keynote.
The New York Times says that other HP projects could include a Linux model among other Windows 7 designs. The company seems to encourage the creation of content friendly to the tablet, such as magazines and digital books, regardless of model. Some analysts express doubts about HP’s capacity of understanding media.
Marlene Somsak, head of Media Relations at HP did not deny that the company would work on multiple tablets but says that it has no Android-based tablet to announce so far.
This rapid expansion indicates that HP has plans and hopes to challenge an Apple tablet, which cannot be released until January 27th but might have almost complete deals on publisher content.
