Super Talent has presented a new RAID storage system, USB powered, at CES. The device is called the RAIDDrive USB 3.0 and offers data transfer speeds over 300Mbps when it is used with USB 3.0 supported systems. It provides five times the speed of USB 2.0 and is backwards compatible with USB ports manufactured earlier. The device should be reliable and should be able to keep data for more than ten years. It uses a special USAP transfer protocol which is believed to offer sped enhancement when transferring data bi-directionally.
The RAIDDrive is slightly taller than a usual notebook drive at 15.4mm tall and will be available in 32, 64 and 128GB models. Exact shipping date is not known and price information is also missing, but the cost may be high due to added speed.
