The new flagship in JVC’s 2010 Everio HD camcorder line has been launched and is called the GZ-HM1. It is said to improve low light performance ant to have better image stabilization and still image quality when compared to JVC’s previous generation. The new diva camera sports a 16× zoom lens, a completely new 10.62-megapixel 1,920×1,080 CMOS sensor able to deliver true 10MP still images at up to ISO 6400. The internal flash memory has 64GB and there is an external SDHC card slot too.
Time lapse recording is 1 to 80 second intervals and high speed recording goes up to 600 frames per second allowing extreme slow-motion effects. The GZ-HM1 camera is capable of capturing simultaneous recording of 1,080-line high definition video along with 5.7-megapixel stills.
The camera can function down to four lux, which means a five lux improvement over the replaced GZ-HM400, thanks to the CMOS sensor that is back-illuminated in order to get better quality images when working at lower light levels. JVC also focused on significantly better performance in improving image stabilization by using new IS technology with two prisms capable of compensating both horizontal and vertical shake. The company claims that a user that is walking when shooting still gets a very stable image.
High-quality audio performance is provided by using K2 technology for the GZ-HM1 camera. The new JVC creation also offers face detection technology, auto flash and one-touch export provided by its bundled software. Shipping is scheduled in March and the price is likely to be $1,200.
