Microsoft’s hopes of undermining the widely anticipated tablet from Apple seem to turn to reality, as a late rumour claims. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, is expected to announce a Hewlett Packard tablet based on Micosoft’s dual-screen Courier concept and even show the device at the event. The new device will allow e-book reading and also multi-touch as part of Hewlett Packard’s feature set, but no indication has been released on how close it will follow the design. The tablet is supposed to ship by mid-2010 if information is correct.
The release of a tablet scheduled so early into the year is considered an attempt to undermine Apple, which could officially release its tablet on January 27th and could easily overshadow a Courier-based tablet if this one would be released afterwards.
