An unnamed source has revealed to the Boy Genius Report that Verizon Wireless had allegedly placed an order for 400,000 Palm handsets. The order, according to the cited source, would be split between two devices, 200,000 Pre and 200,000 Pixi devices.
A report says Palm has shipped 600,000 Pixi devices during the last quarter, but Verizon is holding back the launch until early this year. The reason for this delay is due to Pixi failing to pass the initial testing.
According to some sources, Verizon is supposed to launch soon a Wi-Fi capable Pixi Plus, along with the Pre Plus. Both devices, updated, would feature the same exterior design as their predecessors, but with the internal components upgraded.
A keynote event has been scheduled for CES on the 7th of January. An exact announcement is still unknown, but formal introductions for the upgraded devices, as well as an updated webOS, are still expected by the analysts.
