A partnership between Samsung and RealD was recently announced and will allow the integration of the latter’s 3D technology into the new TV sets of the former. Samsung will give full support to the proprietary stereoscopic RealD Format in order to bring 3D at highest quality to viewers. As a more advanced version of a side-by-side 3D format, RealD Format uses filters and other modern technology to produce high-quality 3D images.

Samsung and RealD will work together to develop New Passive Display technology, as well as active eyewear technology, in order to promote widespread use of 3D television. Other producers, like Panasonic and JVC, have also chosen to apply RealD technology for their 3D-capable hardware. We might mention that RealD is the technology that has been used in the production of some blockbuster movies, like Avatar.
