BenQ has launched its latest JoyBook Lite netbook line-up member, the U103, a 10.1-inch PC with a less-than-one-inch thickness. The PC uses a 1.66GHz Atom processor and has the option of a 32GB solid state drive added to the standard 500GB hard drive. Windows 7 comes preloaded and the JoyBook Lite U103 is the first netbook of this size to sport SRS TruSurround HD as well as SRS CS Headphone for virtual 3D audio.
The netbook has a LED-backlit display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and other features common to netbooks, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera and a 3G modem as an option.
The JoyBook Lite U103 weighs 2.4lbs, with a standard three-cell battery, but there is also an option of having a six-cell battery that can use the BenQ’s Q-Charge feature, which can provide 4.5 hours of battery life in about an hour of charging. When the six-cell battery is fully charged, it can operate for eight hours.
The JoyBook Lite U103 is already available in China, Thailand and Taiwan, in blue or white versions. Indications on pricing or the release date of the netbook on the North American market have not been made public by now.
