On January 5th Skype has entered in the new HD battle. With its new beta 4.2 application, you can video chat at a 720p resolution with higher details than most applications out there. For Mac specifications are unavailable but for Windows to run HD content you have to have a 720p webcam, a 1.8GHz dual-core processor and a 1Mbps internet connection.
Regarding the technical part Panasonic and LG said that they will launch Skype capable TVs during the CES show. These TVs will have a 720p webcam incorporated and they will be compatible with all Skype features like the free services between Skype users as well as paid services like SkypeIN and SkypeOut for worldwide phone calls.
The application for the Windows platform is already available while LG and Panasonic will launch their TVs later this year.
