Samsung has launched the first mirrorless pro body camera, the NX10, which has a DSLR-sized sensor and uses, like the Micro Four Thirds, swappable lenses. The new camera has better sensitivity and also lower noise, thanks to the 14.6-megapixel CMOS imager. This launch confirms previous rumours about the possible release of a camera in this class. The NX10 has certain advantages over other cameras of this type, like the three-inch AMOLED preview screen that provides significantly higher colour accuracy and contrast and eliminates ghosting, also being viewable from a considerably wider angle. Autofocusing is considered to be much faster than mirrorless interchangeable systems and the speed is closer to DSLR normal focusing, but also has the accuracy of a contrast-based system, normally found in view modes like points-and-shoots and DSLR live. The camera has light sensitivity ranging between ISO 100 and 3,200. A Smart Range feature dramatically improves the dynamic range to restore the details in bright or dark scenes. High definition is an important feature of the NX10, which can shoot 720-pixel videos in H.264. The camera also has an HDMI output. Image stabilization is made available through the lens and there is also automatic dust removal for the sensor.

There are no details about the price although the Korean company plans to ship the NX10 camera by the spring. It will be available with an 18-55mm lens and in silver or black colours.
