Yamaha Electronics has recently released the company’s newest home theatre audio system, especially designed for small living rooms: YHT-S400. The system is composed of two pieces, a slim sound-bar speaker and a special subwoofer integrated into the receiver. It is HD Audio compatible and has three HDMI inputs and one output, using Yamaha’s own Air Surround Xtreme technology, which simulates 7-channel surround sound environment.
The sound-bar, which is only 2 inches tall, can be sited in front of most 32 to 50-inch TV sets, without covering the display at all. As an installation option, the speaker-bar’s feet can easily be removed or even adjusted horizontally and vertically. It consists of three speakers, each being powered by 50W. The receiver benefits from an integrated 5-inch subwoofer, offering 100W of power. The receiver also benefits from Yamaha’s UniVolume feature, which helps maintaining a constant volume level between the sources, even if we are talking about the TV, the DVD, or the Blu-ray and also during the commercials.
YHT-S400 is now available, priced at $600.
