More sources said on December 17th that Google wants to buy Yelp. Based on its evaluation and on the large internet traffic the site may be sold around the price of $500 million.
TechCrunch does not provide much information on the intention of the giant Google to buy the small firm but they believe that Google wants to develop the local information data. Yelp results very often in Google searches even if the giant does not have any influence on Yelp. Google has also improved Google Maps by including QR code stickers to highlight reviews on different locations.
Compared to Google, Yelp has an advantage on finding restaurants and local shops as well as having its own application for iPhone and other mobile platforms which deal with finding businesses will Google is struggling with finding general directions.
