Audio-Technica has recently presented the new ATH-ANC1 QuietPoint on-ear headphones with active noise-canceling. The new headphones use the company’s well-known active noise-canceling technology, which is able to block out nearly 85% of the ambient noise and also produce high-quality sound. This technology is on an external module inline with the signal cord, in order to offer less weight and pressure on the user’s head.
Each of the drivers is over 1.4 inches (36mm) in diameter; the headphones offer 105dB sensitivity and a 10-20,000Hz frequency response. Noise can be reduced by 18dB, even if users aren’t listening to music in that particular moment, thanks to the Quietpoint noise reduction.
The headphones can be stored, folded, in a carrying pouch, which is included in the package. They can continue providing audio even when they are short of battery, but they won’t offer the noise-canceling feature anymore.
The ATH-ANC1 QuietPoint headphones come along with a 1.6-foot extension cord, an airline adapter and an AAA battery. Audio-Technica’s new headphones will be shipping starting January 2010 and will be priced at $130.
