Despite the current economic problems most industries struggle with, an IDC report estimates that computer shipments around the world have been growing during the third quarter of this year. The gain, even if the sales have grown by only 2.3%, comes after three consecutive quarters of economical decline.
The largest expansion in shipments has been shown by mobile computers – netbooks have gained 37% over 2008 and mini notebooks have jumped from 14% to 28%. The worst performance in sales have been shown by desktop computers, even if various reports estimate that Apple’s iMacs have represented the best sellers in 2009. Apple seems to have earned 50% of all the profit during October, by maintaining high ASPs, even if many of its competitors have suffered a decline in revenue despite their great sales.
