2010: LED backlit displays and tablet PCs from Samsung

A new product niche will be approached beginning the next year by Samsung. According to a Current report, the company will start producing tablet PCs. Samsung will also add more 3D computing solutions and will also integrate, before the end of 2010, LED backlight technology into its PC displays. Emannuele Silanesu, Samsung’s IT product marketing manager in Australia, stated that the manufacturer will most probably launch multi-touch monitors and notebooks.

Multi-touch products are expected to come out during the first quarter of 2010, but they will feature CCFL backlight as a start; the LED backlight will be used later.

Silanesu hasn’t said too much about the 3D features, but he stopped to say that NVIDIA is currently planning a technology which will be able to convert 2D content into 3D content. Samsung may announce and use a similar technology somewhere next year.
