American CDMA carriers could soon have Motorola’s first high-end touchscreen Android-based phone, which is currently being developed. Rumors say that the new mobile device, named XT800, will have a 3.7-inch touchscreen with a 854×480 resolution, being similar to Droid’s screen (in a more rounded design). The phone seems to be more powerful as well, being able to play 720p video to a TV thanks to its HDMI output and offer videos the same resolution as to its pictures (5-megapixel camera).

It is most likely that the device will be available, for a start, in China. Here, China Telecom will offer a version with 3G, GPS and other popular features among Chinese users, such as dual SIM card slots and WAPI wireless. The phone will be priced at $860 without any carrier discounts, probably on Christmas Day.

According to a FCC filing, XT800 is likely to arrive in the US sometime next year as the Titanium with EVDO Revision A and will probably be destined for Verizon or Sprint. Sprint has more chances to receive the phone, because the manufacturer will most probably release a keyboardless Droid in the beginning of the next year.
