Two weeks shipping delay for 27-inch iMacs

Apple has already delayed shipping of 27-inch iMacs by five to seven days and now, without announcing anything, it has postponed again the distribution by two weeks. These repeated delays are believed to origin in a quality measure taken by the company due to cracked screens on delivery and to some systems presenting periodic flickering or loss of the video signal, which have not received an official explanation from Apple. The problem is however complex enough to be solved on the spot and delays are compounding as orders are numerous at this time of the year, as the new iMac could be a tempting present and Christmas is near.

The delayed shipping might seriously impact on Apple as orders have been delayed past Christmas and many customers could be disappointed. It could also affect the quarterly results of the company, which have been boosted by new iMac versions.

Apple has apologized for the delays by arguing that the new version of iMac is a success and the company is working hard to process the orders as quickly as it can. However, no association with the above mentioned technical problems has been made, nor did Apple say when shipping could reach the normal rhythm.
