On December 10, 2009, AMD confirmed that it has already received $1.25 billion from Intel; this sum of money counts as a settlement payment. The $1.25 billion is conformable to the monetary terms mentioned in the companies’ agreement, concerning some antitrust and patent conflicts. The two companies have agreed on a five-year cross-license contract, deciding to exchange patent rights.

Intel must follow many business practice provisions, as stated in the contract. On the other hand, AMD has to stop the judiciary measures from Japan and the US District Court in Delaware.

Even if AMD and Intel have already made a deal, the latter still has to pay, in Europe, a $1.45 billion fine and may have trouble with a New York antitrust case. The company also has some problems with NVIDIA, again because of antitrust actions.
