The Korean ODROID gaming console is shipping now in a worldwide developer edition. It has a touchscreen and can provide high definition resolutions on TV sets through its HDMI output.
The console uses an 833MHz Samsung ARM Cortex processor and has 512MB of RAM. It also sports an accelerometer to use with certain motion-control games. A 2GB microSD card is meant to hold the Android operating system, while another 8GB SDHC card is targeted to hold other content.
The demo video shows the ODROID playing the Speed Forge 3D game on a 42-inch high definition TV. When users do not need the min-HDMI port to output 720-pixel video to a HDTV, they can play on a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen at a 320×480 resolution. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as a USB port are used for connectivity. Standard 3.5mm headphones can be plugged-in and audio input and output are also available.
Developers from over the world can receive the gaming console for a price of $349, together with a debug board and a connector cable. They also receive the schematics as well as the source code.
